My Learning and Experience across the Spectrum of Mental Illness goes back 39 years

I bring decades of experience and a wealth of expertise in mental health. From my initial qualification as a mental health nurse in 1986, through nearly four decades of dedicated service, I have amassed a profound understanding of this field. My role as an Independent Nurse Prescriber for 15 years further highlights my extensive skill set.

I have tackled diverse challenges, working in acute admission, long-stay rehabilitation, psychogeriatrics, and various critical mental health services, including Crisis Resolution Teams and Police Liaison. My international experience in Australia, within Psychiatric Intensive Care Units and High Secure Forensic Mental Health Hospitals, speaks volumes about my adaptability and commitment.

I spent four years in Mental Health Commissioning and Public Health. This allowed my ability to shape services in line with government guidelines and to tailor care for individual patients. The dynamism of working with a Crisis Team was incredibly rewarding, offering acute care to clients within the comfort of their own homes. In the past eleven years, I have been a Nurse Consultant, focusing on mental health and substance misuse in prison settings. My career reflects unwavering dedication and resilience.

My time in the forensic environment, across various security levels, in both male and female prisons provided significant opportunity to make a difference in people's lives. Encountering ADHD and various mental health issues, including substance dependence in these settings was both challenging and deeply impactful. My ability to adapt and excel across such diverse roles and environments has, in my opinion, benefitted most of the people I have cared for. I have contributed to meaningful change at every level.

My relentless pursuit of knowledge and experience over the past 42 years has truly paid off. Now, branching out on my own, I can focus on providing top-notch mental health assessments and interventions with a more personalized touch. This journey towards working independently is a testament to my dedication and expertise. I want to make an even more impactful difference in people’s lives!
